My first professional career was as a third grade teacher outside Washington, DC. Even then my fellow staff looked to me for help with technology and I taught students computer skills after school. But the funding for that program was slashed and I found that being a new teacher under the constraints of George Bush’s idea of accountability wasn’t for me. I then found my place doing grassroots politics and have spent the last six years as a canvass director and field organizer. Again, I often became the guy who was sent around the country programming palmtop computers for canvassers and setting up data tracking for myself and my fellow organizers.
I love that I’ve
found a home with Telefund. My work with the IT Team here lets
me combine my knack for data and technology with my passion for
politics on a daily basis. It’s great that I can use my
talents to help out many causes I care about from GLBT rights
and combating hate to animal rights and the environment.
